General web site suggestions » download of "jpg QSLs" from eQSL Dec 30, 2011 07:49 PM (Total replies: 14)

Unfortunately most eQSLs look alike (as they use a limited set of standard graphic layouts). So, no much fun in downloading and printing them (or even displaying them)

Nevertheless, I agree with those stating that a service having the word "QSL" in its name should allow interested people to download graphic cards.

The processor load problem could be alleviated taking advantage from the fact that most eQSLs look alike.

For instance, an idea could be that of downloading the eQSL standard graphic layouts from the eQSL server just once, and to keep them stored on the PC. Then, the eQSLs download process would consist in just getting the QSO data and QSL-to-layout mapping. Reconstructing the eQSL would become the task of a local PC application.

Although the eQSLs using a custom graphic layout should obviously have to be fully downloaded, nevertheless a very significant saving should be achievable.

With regard to automating the print of 4 eQSLs per A4 page, this is easy task for IrFanView. However, I am not sure whether it works with US-sized pages (fatter and shorter).
