eAward Suggestions » RTTY Award May 6, 2011 09:17 PM (Total replies: 5)

VA3KAB David is asking for a Digital and RTTY award and I second that.
I am also using mostly RTTY and as retired I am reappearing on the ham bands with a familiar mode - many years ago I did build the ST-5 and ST-6 and used up lots of paper rolls. Those days we sent pictures composed by the keyboard and had really fun. No pictures via email at that time... ;)

So please - a RTTY award would be very nice and really something to put up on the wall beside our national RTTY award from SARTG.

Promoting eQSLs to ham organizations » ARRL LOTW & acceptance of eQSL Jul 29, 2010 07:59 PM (Total replies: 23)

Nice to observe all the small (and big) steps towards a global acceptance of eQSL.

Knowing the ARRL standpoint in this matter explains for sure the opinion in certain other ham organisations. Let me tell you.
This morning I worked a station in a Central American country, really a DX seen from the Swedish horizon. And with my simple antenna.
To be polite I mailed him a JPG of my eQSL afterwards. He returned promptly: "Sorry. No eQSL please".
QRZ.com gave me a clue: the station belonged to the ARRL sister organisation in that island state! No wonder they don't like eQSL.

Getting more eQSLs » How to get more people to join EQSL??!! Apr 24, 2010 09:23 AM (Total replies: 43)

Yes, #1 is good Doug, I really like that one... :)

And as Dave says eQSL is free, so why not use it? Its simpler to set up than LOTW and the only setback is the demand for an Internet connection.
And there maybe some of the problem could be found, Internet isn't readibly available everywhere to a reasonable cost.
But whith increased growth and use of the net I think more hams probably will at least have a more positive look on eQSL - if they don't convert totally, that is.

To those non-eQSL-fans who need a hardcopy of the QSL - as wallcover? - the eQSL could be mailed to the appropriate QSL bureau where the QSL at a cost is printed out and can be fetched by the ham.
From that the next step is to mail the eQSL directly to the ham, that's even cheaper for everyone.
Much work with QSL's at bureaus and clubs are minimized.

But for now - why in heaven not register at eQSL for FREE and fetch the QSL's, at least the local radio club ought to have an Internet connection if that is the problem.

Yes Doug, you are right, this forum is maybe not the place to ask for arguments from the retro people - there is just only us orthodox hams here. :)

Getting more eQSLs » How to get more people to join EQSL??!! Apr 23, 2010 08:16 AM (Total replies: 43)

When working some stations and they end with "PSE NO EQSL" I always gets curious about that - why that negative statement?

Would love to hear the arguments...

Other suggestions » Display of earlier QSO:s when logging Feb 24, 2009 08:07 AM (Total replies: 2)

When logging new contacts, could the earlier contacts with this station be displayed underneath the log window?
Could be interesting to see the latest five (or so) log inputs regarding this station when registering a new QSO.
