Greetings from K7VIQ

My Wife and I are Ham Radio operator's in Eugene, OR. My interest in radio started as a licensed CB user(KBPN-1418) and I went by 'Little John'. I was discouraged by the language and lack of courtesy though and searched for an alternative. Ham radio was the ticket I desired, but it was several years until I got around to finish studying for a license, learning the code really held me back. I was first licensed as KB7VIQ on June 6, 1993. My Brother Cecil(KB7ZXH) and a group of us Friends had a repeater for years but due to inactivity we took it down.

On March 14th 2007 my wife Kathy became KD7PJW and I became K7VIQ as we both took and passed the General exam together. I love the idea of communicating with my Friends from around the world(ie. SV2EVS, WA4UQQ, W2BN and Sat/Sun ECARN/Rendezvous nets). We never did get set up to work on HF though. [Still the case in 10/2023, I bought a NanoVNAH 4 antenna analyzer but have not got it to work yet.]

On March 30, 2019 I passed the extra and we acquired some decent HF equipment. I am having problems getting an antenna to work with my radio though. I hope one day to be on the HF bands. [In 10/2023, I bought a NanoVNAH 4 antenna analyzer to get the antenna working but have not got the analyzer to work yet.]

In December 2019 I started learning Morse code through the LICW club. I bought a Bencher BY-2 on July 31, 20, one of several items he sold to LICW Club members. As I slowly continue to learn to listen to code, I hope to one day use it on the air, but meanwhile I practice using my PC, Keys, oscillators and apps. I also bought most of the parts needed to assemble a custom Kent key on April 22, 2023 at a good discount from buying the kit. I am now practice sending with a Morserino and receiving from Morse Code World QSO Practice QSO's.

October 20-2023 - I have been practicing daily QSO’s with Morse Code Online for a long time and my Morserino for a couple months and I want to practice QSO's with other code students
I am currently practicing CW at 14/8.

When I do get on the air, Please leave me 14/8 chr spacing so I can have time to process between letters and words.
