I recently had an opportunity to post on the OnLineQSL Yahoo group. I was asking about the seemingly missing support from the Moderators here on the Forums. I recieved an email reply from Russ K7INA and with his permission, I am posting the contents of his response.
Andy: The reason there is not much activity on the forum in terms of problem solving is because Dave has asked that the forums not be used for that activity. On the eQSL "home" page if you go to the "community" area and select "forums", in the second paragraph it is noted that members should use the "support e-mail system" for problems and not the forums. I hope this clears up your issue. Russ, K7INA eQSL Advisory Board eQSL HF Awards Chairman
I replied:
Russ, Thanks for the quick response. I think the membership is using the forums for help is because it takes so long to get an answer back from the Help! or Contact Us links. When they look there they see that over 870 emails are in the queue ahead of them and they get discouraged. The forums are useful to answer the easy questions and whenever I can't, I send them to the Help links. With your permission, I will post your reply on the forums to steer the members to the support email system. Thanks to you and the other moderators for a great site. 73 Orest 'Andy' Zajac N1ORK
Here is Dave's response from the Yahoo group:
Please don't deluge us with any more email than we are already processing. We triage email and a number of volunteers around the world answer it. But only when it comes through the designated channels within the system. Email from outside is liable to sit for weeks, as I, for instance, have to answer hundreds of emails in addition to the daily system upkeep tasks.
I am not aware of "many hams" getting disenchanted. Quite the contrary. We still have at least 50 to 75 new members signing up every single day, which is about what it has always been. We are constantly adding new eAwards (a batch of new eGrids are on the way), and we are about to move to a new much larger server this month, if everything works out in testing.

I just want to say that I fully support eQSL and have used the Power Point presentation at our club meetings to promote eQSL. Me and a few of the other 'Regulars' will continue to help as best we can here on the forums. If you have a problem with something we can't help with, we will refer you to the Support Help link.
Also, here is the verbage from the Forum login page:
The eQSL.cc Forums are an integral part of the eQSL.cc web site. You may use them to discuss any issues for which we have established a Forum. If you need faster response to a problem, or if you have donations or postage account monies that have not been credited, do not use the Forums to get help. Use the Support EMail System instead.
Let's support and promote eQSL because it's really the best out there. 73 Andy - n1ork

FWIW - N5UP is confusing "new members" with satisfaction. That is like comparing apples to oranges. I am not aware of "many hams" getting disenchanted. Quite the contrary. We still have at least 50 to 75 new members signing up every single day...New member "sign up" is because new members wish to take advantage of this great service and nothing (I repeat nothing) to do with the length of time required for a cry for help e-mail. As a matter of fact, how would a new member even know about the length of time it takes for help. At any rate, I love this service and those that help keep it running. 73 KE3W Nevins "Frank" Frankel Temporary QTH: Centralia, Pennsylvania (USA) http://www.ke3w.com
