I think eQSL design is very important if we want to increase its acceptance. People like to receive paper eQSLs among other reasons because they are beautiful, and I think that the average eQSL is still far behind in this respect.
When rank and file members are denied the possibility of having a nice eQSL, this not only goes against them but also against all the members that receive their eQSLs and against the general popularity of the system.
If free riders are excluded from some benefits, I think they should rather be excluded from viewing graphical eQSLs than from producen a nice one for other members to enjoy.

Diego,
I also agree that the best eQSL design should be open to all. However I don't think that restricting the viewing would help. There are some out there who will never donate and some who just can't. If they can pay the postage for paper QSLs then they can donate for eQSLs. Some hams just don't take the time to construct unique eQSLs on the 'My eQSL Design' page even if they can.
The best we can do is to encourage more hams to use eQSLand become AG. Then, when they see how good and easy it is they will donate for the upkeep if they can.

Hi Andy,

isn't strange , hams are running trx and antennas for thousands of dollars but to donate 10 per year is too much ????
So I do not following your way just to get more people into the boat , the service has to be paid by someone and it should not only the ones who run the server and all .

People should realize that just because something belongs to ham radio , they cannot get all for free .
that old idea is outdated in my view of the world and eQSL offers the service for such a little fee that should not a problem to anyone who is able to run a ham radio station .
Sure you have people who hardly are able to get the daily bread but these you will not find on the internet and probably not on the bands - because they have much more important things to worry than a QSL .

No , I would like to see a change in a way , 2 months for free , then donate a free amount above 5 $ per year and AG membership only . Far too many registered in the database who have not used the account for years , that is no win to a system .

And then I would aggree to have some more cards available while I do not like to get standard cards , many hams stick for hours on one QRG to get the DX shot of a special call but 10 minutes for creating an own design seems to be too much ???

I agree that a nice QSL graphic improves the look of the card when printed.

Actually, I prefer a photograph taken by the amateur of his/her's immediate region. But not a shack-shot. I think we have a pretty good idea of what amateur radio equipment looks like. Could be nature, an important monument, even a family photo, etc..

Just about everyone has a snapshot-type digital camera these days.

The photo doesn't have to be super professional.

That is what is nice about e-qsling, the photo can be changed as new subject matter comes to mind.

Can't do that with a thousand pre-printed QSL cards.

Hi all,
Electronic qsl is the future...environment friendly, easy to use, fast, and you can change your personal touch when and how you like, just like Richard(N2UGB) mentioned so well.
the more,
behind the servers, there are people maintaining and improving the software running on them..
So..i guess it is normal we pay a little amount to enjoy the benefits from this wonderful tool. I encourage everybody i know to give it a try and use it.
