Hi. I never sign as G3ZOD/QRP but some stations start sending that callsign anyway when they find out I'm running QRP.

Will any G3ZOD/QRP eQSLs arrive at my G3ZOD account, or do I have to set up a G3ZOD/QRP account as well?

Thanks

I believe that if a QSO arrives as g3zod/qrp it will not match your g3zod account. I think you need a seperate /qrp account. Then you can attach those accounts together for awards.

"By *attaching* all of your accounts, you can log out of one account and log in to another one by coming to this screen and clicking on a LOGIN button below.
It will also make it possible to consolidate credits from all your eligible accounts for our eAwards!
When you *attach* accounts to each other, they will still maintain separate logs, separate eQSL designs, and their own separate QTH information. The same membership level will be enjoyed by all attached accounts, based on the combined total of donations made into the attached accounts.
You should only attach accounts for callsigns that belong to you personally. Otherwise, you will be accumulating credits for eAwards that other people should be getting!"

Hope this helps Graham,

Andy is correct , you need an attached account for getting /qrp cards.
same problem here as I run 5 w , for no reason some hams add qrp .

By the way same is when adding /p or /2 ( other district ) so meanwhile I first check if the hams actually has that acount or "only" is main account ( without/p ) and in almost every case it is neccessary to remove that /... !
not many QSOs on my side that is OK but wouldn't care that if I am a contester .. .

Andy and Uli, thanks for your help. I have set up a new attached account; although there weren't any eQSLs waiting, I guess it's the sensible thing to do in case anyone sends them there in the future.

I strikes me that it would be far better if /QRP were automatically sent to the applicable base callsign account unless the user deliberately attaches a /QRP account. Unlike all the other common suffixes (/A /M /MM /P /AM /1 /2 etc.), /QRP isn't a "real" callsign and also there's no change in location associated with /QRP.

I wonder if people also send eQSLs to /QRPP? This could make looking after all these accounts very onerous.

Perhaps the eQSL system should automatically send an email alerting a user with an account if it sees that eQSLs are being sent to their callsign but with a suffix or prefix that they don't yet have an attached account set up.

Hello Graham ,
I aggree and you may send it to eQSL as a proposal .
No sense if such a QSL is stored in the database for years ...

But the addition of /QRP (or anything else other than /A, /P or /M) is ILLEGAL in the UK and many other countries in the world. It does not form part of any callsign as far as I am concerned, so if they send me a eQSL (or real QSL) showing G3YMC/QRP it is not valid for anything and as far as I am concerned would not want to receive it anyway. Why people persist in this pointless habit is beyond me.

Hi Dave. Well, when I have someone add /QRP to my callsign mid-QSO, I think it's well intentioned and intended as a compliment - can't expect everyone outside the UK to know the fine details of our licensing.

For what it's worth, so far I've had no eQSLs sent to me with the (unwanted) /QRP suffix.

Coincidentally, I was readling the "lifetime licence" again recently, and I was surprised to see that adding /P /M /A /MM, while still the only permitted suffixes, is now only "recommended" and the the licensee "may" add them!!!

Maybe it's with having been around some time, but personally I liked it when they were mandatory, or perhaps they are and the author of the licence hasn't chosen his or her words carefully enough.

On the other hand maybe they'll next drop the requirement for the G/GM/GW etc. prefix change like the USA have dropped the call areas suffix requirement - ugh!
