Getting more eQSLs » Increasing the percentage of Eqsl Return ? May 4, 2006 12:30 PM (Total replies: 41)

......and before I forget:
I emailed some AG members in DX directly for skeds, after I did not receive an answer on an
automatic sked request, just to try out:
1. I am not interested in any sked, work me when you hear me!
2. I have already worked CA on all bands, sorry!
3. Please refrain from emailing me!
4. Not interested in any contact with U.S.!!!
5. No answer at all (30%)

What can u say about ham spirit.....
Out of 25 emails resulted 2 skeds!!!!!

I need EU on 40 for WAZ and WAE, I am working on this for a year now. 5 skeds negative, it is just frustrating, and then you get emails like above. Man, what is going on with our hobby?

Getting more eQSLs » Increasing the percentage of Eqsl Return ? May 4, 2006 12:09 PM (Total replies: 41)

Hi, everybody

here my 2 Cents for eQSL:
Outbox volume 1716 since May 2003
Archive volume 287, out of this 40 non-AG
Return percentage 16%, got a little better since I changed my card design some months ago from the 14% I had then.
Usable AG percentage 14%

Comparison to LoTW:
Uploaded 1716
Qsls resulted 247 hits comparable to 240 AG on eQSL
Return percentage 14%

So for me both systems result equally.

Without sending direct cards to any new country worked I could not have reached WAS and DXCC by now; eWAS standing is 28 states, eDX100 is 69 countries.
In fact, I am at 200 Dxcc confirmed, and certified DXCC on 10/15/20.

You want to better your percentage in eQSL: Skeds are the only answer!!
You cannot get 3y0x to upload on eQSL as long as they get directs with IRCs to refinance their endeavor. And that applies to most DXpeditions.
Some contest-stations like PJ2T upload on Lotw, only for the purpose to receive less paper through the mail. Some upload on eQSL for the same purpose.
More qsos will better the chance to get more AG, but will not better the return percentage.
I had to work 50 G stations to finally get a hit for AG, unluckily 3y0 does not have 50 stations, if you know, what I mean!

Generally said, there are a lot of hams out there that are simply not interested in qsling.

And, very few AGs in DX return sked requests of countries they have already confirmed. They concentrate on their own DX chase.

Okay, there is another way as mentioned above: Automated matching in the system like on LoTW............would be just great. I looked into my Outbox before I wrote this.
There are at least another 287 hits that have not been answered by members, yet. They are either not uploaded yet (which we cannot be sure about), or viewed and not confirmed. Those at least should be automatically confirmed.

Our AG here should have the same security as a LoTW Cert, so why not MATCH AUTOMATICALLY? Maybe N5UP could look a little deeper into this option!

Just my 2 Cents

Getting more eQSLs » How About An eQSL Net? May 3, 2006 05:58 PM (Total replies: 124)

OK, Ladies and Gents,
looking at 860 viewers (by far the most in the general topic"Getting more eqsls"), there seems to be some interest.....or?
I have been busy in the past weeks, not been online or hardly on the air.
Condx are not great from here, but still...

On a net, off course, anybody would be welcome, AG or not, eQsl or not; it could raise the awareness factor for eQSL as well as promote general fellowship.

And, no, the website does not do everything for the members: Some hams just like to chase the paper, and the reflux for sked requests is not very good for needed countries, it is better for States in the US, but quite meager there , also. Just my results..

So, a net seems to be a possibility to increase interest......(I just might catch something I have been looking for so long). It might also increase the AG awareness, because one might be asked for that right there in the qso with a wanted entity. And, who would reply"Iam not interested"......

Just think about it!

I am a paper chaser, no doubt about it, and I strongly believe the eQSL community has to wake up, not only to spread the word, but also to spread the wealth: Work more eQsl stations to create more eQsls to create more awards to create more general awareness for this excellent service !!

Roger,
about the cw net:
I do not know, we are just now trying to organize a phone net. There could be a cw net resulting, if the Phone Net works out alright.
My opinion:Why not!

Russ,
you've got mail!

Lindy, welcome, off course. My email is my callsign on the ARRL net.
I have a tribander at 18ft right now, soon on a 45 ft tower and then will also be able to run 500 W.
But my qth is at 3600 asl, open from NW through SW downsloping take-off angle.
NNE through SW no obstruction for 40 through 50 miles.
I run our clubnet every three weeks....
Interesting name you got there.

I will be on 20 later on, calling around 14240/50 towards E, starting at 2300 UTC. Maybe you hear me with my 100W.

Russ,
hi,
your message is right here!!
Why not the two of us try to find us on the band and check out OUR connectivity first. I usually do not have a prob with WA.
Other than that, once weekly trying for 8 weeks for a start does not seem to be undoable to me.....
If we do not show presence, a lot of the listeners only might not think our attempt is serious.

Hi, Russ, HNY 2006,

as I wrote in the other spot, I am watching 20m here from SoCal and I found WD and TH to be the least "traffic" days and the QRGs least used 14240/50 and 14270/80, so far.
I hope that works with you up there, too, pse let me know.
If prop is right, I can work into EU-Russia from here until o3ooZ, G and EA until 0400Z, covering the US and VE quite well, too.
I am at 3600 feet with a straight shot towards Eu and AF.
