HI Jimmy. I use an old Kenwood TS-430 connected to an Signaling USB adapter. I used a cable direct to the computer before and that was olso a good solutin. I recommend you to use The software Digipan 2.0 I have a G5RV antenna and the Rig set to about 100 watt it is no watt selector on a Kenwood exept adjusting the mic gain. I am located in the middle of Sweden and have good QSO to eastern North America and Canada. over PSK31, I recommend You to use PSK31 because what I heard 100W on PSK31 is compared to 4000W on SSB, thats what I think is a win win of the narrow bandwith only 31Hz.
