In specific JT65-HF or RTTY ?

I have an Alinco DX-sr8t, and a Hustler 5-BTV antenna. Along with a Vista desktop computer and a Win 8.1 laptop.

I know I have to get the computer and radio to talk to one another, and software to show me the waterfall.

So a cable for the computer- radio connection.

What do you suggest for cable and software ?

Thanks !

I suggest you join a Yahoo user group for your radio. You may also need an interface cable compatible with your radio and the proper software.

Hi jimmy

this is jimmie also km6wc .... I also have an alinco sr8 and what I did go buy a west mountain NO MIC for it (i'm not affiliated with west mountain in any way) well it seems to work
just fine but you will be limited to 10 watts or less as that is what the radio will put out but that shouldn't be a problem a lot of hams out there use 10 watts or less, one ham was using .5 watts
that's a half of a watt on jt65 mode which is what i run most of the time some psk31 and rtty
so if that is any help your more than welcome. check out WEST MOUNTAIN AND THE NO MIC it just might solve your problem.

thanks fer lettin me rant

Looks interesting, and I can afford it. I'm still working on getting electricity to my shack. Hopefully on air in a few months.

Thanks !

HI Jimmy.
I use an old Kenwood TS-430 connected to an Signaling USB adapter.
I used a cable direct to the computer before and that was olso a good solutin.

I recommend you to use The software Digipan 2.0 I have a G5RV antenna and the Rig set to about 100 watt it is no watt selector on a Kenwood exept adjusting the mic gain.

I am located in the middle of Sweden and have good QSO to eastern North America and Canada. over PSK31,

I recommend You to use PSK31 because what I heard 100W on PSK31 is compared to 4000W on SSB, thats what I think is a win win of the narrow bandwith only 31Hz.

I Hope to heare from you on the radio in the future. :-)

/Bo
