Support - English speaking » QSO time error May 23, 2020 03:19 PM (Total replies: 2)

When I see a time disparity, I question my own logging first.

I check my log and if it was a pretty active timeframe, I can tell where the error lies.

I am not "afraid" of asking the Amateur to go into his/her OUTBOX and EDIT the time, if he/she agrees with my assessment.

I think time errors and even date mistakes happen when we are logging contacts made over several days. We might neglect backing up the date on the Manual Entry Form, or miss changing the time from the previous log entry. We need to be attentive when making the eQSL card entries.

If you notice an error when you first check your INBOX, it is easier for the sending ham to go into their OUTBOX and EDIT the entry if you haven't accepted the card before seeing the mistake.

Getting more eQSLs » New to FT-8 and eQSL: Have I Goofed? May 23, 2020 03:05 PM (Total replies: 2)

I basically agree with Guy. A "599" report means you believe the two of you completed a good QSO.

BUT, the db reception report is what FT8 is designed to have. It can tell you a lot, or leave you scratching your head.

Voice contacts use "59", maybe at "57" or some other figure of meaning to the one sending the report. "599" is what we consider a sterling report in CW or PSK31.

So I believe we should make the eQSL report for FT8 as the program designed it to be. I have not rejected a 599 card, but have left it in my INBOX and emailed the Sender requesting they EDIT their OUTBOX for our QSO. They always honor the request.

Getting more eQSLs » What if Someone Would Like to Be a SWL ? May 23, 2020 02:33 PM (Total replies: 4)

I have a close associate who has an entry level Amateur license. They made a good number of contacts, all over, on 10M the first day of operating on the radio, but that was it.

This person could be encouraged, I believe, to become a SWL and send eQSL cards to members whom they have copied in QSO's with other hams.

BUT, , , , how does one become a "licensed" SWL with a number (callsign) I.D?

Getting more eQSLs » What are you folks using to print your cards? May 23, 2020 02:26 PM (Total replies: 2)

There are so many printers out there that do a good job with 4 X 6 prints. I don't spend money on 4 X 6 glossy printer paper. I buy the heaviest matte card stock I can find. I then use a paper cutter to gain three cards per piece of card stock.
When I check my INBOX and find cards there that I then verify are correct in comparison to my log, I DISPLAY the card, right click it to SAVE PICTURE AS and name it with the amateur's name to a folder of QSL Cards Needing to be Printed.
When I have gathered a few cards to that folder, I use Adobe Photoshop to print the cards on the matte stock in the 4 X 6 size. They turn out well. I place them in a three ring binder in those protective, plastic photo sheets that each hold six (6) cards. They are easy to review that way, you have invested minimum dollars and visitors enjoy looking through the album.

Enjoy.
