Hello all,

what do you think of an eWAE?
The original award is issued by the DARC, each EU-country is 1 point per band, there're different levels according to the number of countries (>40, 50, 60) & points (>100, 150, 200), WAE Top is 70 countries/ 300 pts, Trophy 72/360, ...
If you're interested in details, see www.darc.de/referate/dx/fgdd.htm
I think, for an eWAE two levels are enough like eWAE (50/150) and eWAE+ like the original "Top".
Could make a challenge for the US/CAN as working the WAS for EUs,
on the other hand a bit easier to achieve by EUs than WAS/ WAZ.

73!

Tom,

I agree - I think that would be a fine idea!

It could help raise awareness of eQSL here in Europe.

Tim,

glad that you like the idea, what about the way ahead?
Do you want me to check the DARC award-rules and provide a draft for the eWAE-rules i.a.w. the other award rules' layout or will you do it on your own? Guess some details of the award (levels, countries/ points to achieve) should be agreed by the community, I expected some more discussion on that here, so for that time I left these fields free. Suggest to keep that topic running for some more days to get others involved.

will you temporarily point the user's attraction on that by advising them after having logged in "there's 1 new item .. discussion on an eWAE .. see the forum!"

Tom,

I'll mention it to the Webmaster and the guys on the Advisory Board. If you're interested in helping taking it forward, that would be brilliant....

Hi guys!

An eWAE will be a really great idea. I agree with Tom ... two or three classes should be enough.

Maybe I can help for setting it up?

I like this idea too. I think the awards committee is busy trying to get the eGrid awards up and running but maybe we could persuade them to make eWAE the next project.

I think an eWAE eAward is a good idea. I don't know what I could do to help except to spread the word about eQSL and help out on the forums. I know the Admins of the site must be busy because you don't hear from them very much in these forums or the Yahoo group (except for Dave N5UP).

Just wondering if, 15 months on from Andy's last comment, and five years after the first suggestion, whether anything has come of this excellent idea?

But rather than slavishly following the DARC model, how about a European equivalent of WAS, ie 1 point per country (maybe with some intermediate levels), and offered with band/mode endorsements.

.. and 4 months after your post Andy, no response at all. Very disappointing. Response time for new (like me) members does'nt look that impressive so far.

I also would love to see some sort of eWAE award.

I stopped caring about ARRL years ago and now am only interested in eQSL awards, so the more awards to work towards the better, and I always enjoy working Europe.

Just curious, how many entities would one have to get for eWAE? Would it include European Russia, Ukraine, Kaliningrad, all of the EU-XXX IOTAs, etc......? As far as countries go, I count 45. If we got this info together for the Admins, maybe that would speed things up.

The DARC (German equivalent to ARRL) rules for the WAE award can be found here: http://www.darc.de/uploads/media/dxawrule.pdf
Maybe this will give you some ideas on implementing an eWAE award.

I was surprised to see that the DARC list (referenced) gets to 74

So how about:
Bronze: 50 worked and confirmed
Silver: 60 worked and confirmed
Gold: 70 worked and confirmed
SuperStar: all 74 worked and confirmed

With band/mode endorsements?
