Hello to All: Anyone have any info on 3Y0X hooking up with eQSL? I see they already have many cards waiting. I was just curious, it would be cool to land that one in my Inbox!!! I have heard them several locations (Freqs) so far. They were very strong on 40M at about 10:00z to 12:00z here in Indiana this morning running split from (TX)(SSB) 7066kc to (RX) 7145-55kc but they forgot about us lowly General Class Ops...hi-hi...All the Best and Good Luck landing the rare DX...W9FNB Gary

That would be cool! If anyone reading this thread knows any of the operators well, it might be worth an ask if they'd consider uploading the logs here.

Dave and eQSLers:
Well Dave I took your handoff of the ball and ran with it! I had never meet Dr. Gary K9SG. I do believe though we did work when I had my old call (KA0FNB) at the Greenfield ,In. address.
Here for all to veiw was my open note to Dr. Gary and the 3Y0X Team sent while they were still there. I was hoping he would be checking his E-Mail via satellite after they uploaded the logs. I guessed wrong! I took a shot hoping it could be topic at meal time or in one of the operation shacks at Peter 1.
Gary K9SG, was good enough to answer, as you can read the day he arrived back in Greenfield, IN.
I will try and keep this intro short, as I do what some of you to get through this entire thread and see what I believe is the major reason eQSL upload is not being considered.
The ALL AMERICAN GREENSTAMP! Do I find that wrong? No not really. I was told by a source, nameless of course that this effort cost some of the team members over $50,000USD of their own money! This over the course of the last 2 years+ to make 3Y0X a reallity. This was the second attempt to pull this off!
So without any further rambling here is the communication.

Greetings Dr. Gary: I hope all is well on Peter 1. I have been following closely the activity ever since I read the article in CQ Mag a few months back and it listed you as a new addition and a welcome one.
I guess I should introduce myself though I do believe we have worked on 2M a few years back. I am Gary W9FNB from Carthage formerly of Greenfield (Greenbrook Dr.).
I was just inquiring to see if any of the Team members and possibly yourself had thought about possibility of uploading the logs to eQSL Database. I have checked there just yesterday and found a GREAT number of members who had already upload contacts made with 3Y0X to their logs on eQSL.
I know from having membership with them since the mid 90's they are fine group of Amateurs who not only enjoy QSL's but have learn the service can save a ton of time and money by using the service.
I have no vested interest in eQSL other than an active Gold member. I just hope the other members have a chance to add a confirmation of 3Y0X to their logs and country list.
I have not been fortunate yet to work you guys on your quest, but I am surely trying!!!! Tell the group to take a QRP call now and then...hihi...or QRS down to 25 or 30wpm so us CW dummies will recognize our own calls.
You fellows have some real burners operating there!!!
I will not take anymore of your precious time Gary. I do thank you for your time.
All the Best to you and yours as well as the fine staff at 3Y0X.
BEST REGARDS and wish I was there!
Gary W. Killion W9FNB

Gary,
As far as I know there are no plans to use the Eqsl service. Since this is a DXCC operation and Eqsls aren't DXCC confirmations the log will be downloaded into ARRL LOTW after a few months. We are trying very hard to do QSLs and have about 10 QSL managers working on this. N2OO is the main manager. For a donation of $1 or more we will have a really nice 6 sided deluxe QSL card and for SASE will have a pretty nice regular QSL card. We are hoping to actually make a little money off QSLs to offset some of our 1/2 million plus expense on this DXpedition. Most members of the team spent about as much as a small car costs to go on this expedition so we are counting on donations even at the QSL card level.

I just returned yesterday! 73 Gary K9SG

WELL THERE YOU HAVE IT! I do think the team members may not know just how many groups and organizations do accept eQSL for award status. I think a little follow-up info from some other members and QSLers from around the globe may help. Do just as I did, look up their calls and send a little note.
I would be glad to be the first to donate to a fund from eQSL members to help recoup some of the cost for this adventure to the fine operators of 3Y0X.
I will be sending a contribution with my cards to confirm my 2 contacts (yes I finally got through) that I made with a 1/4 GP on 20m/ at 8 meters high with 300 watts on 25 year old equipment...hihi...
I will make the first challenge of $10USD toward such a fund. Any interest?
All the Best to all
Gary W. Killion W9FNB

Gary,

Thanks for your follow-up.

Realistically, I'm guessing that if we asked again in a year's time, once the QSL income has been received, the answer would be more positive.

Certainly, if more expeditions do choose to use eQSL/LOTW immediately after they return, a fund such as you mention will become key to replacing their QSL income stream. Dxpeditions are a very costly business - particularly when you go to somewhere like 3Y0!
