i'm happy to respond to the SWL reports and try to confirm them with my log as i was told they can earn awards and certificates ( i really can't personally confirm that, though ).

anyway, i have begun receiving eqsl cards with a report of them receiving my signal but not listing a qso. i really can't confirm anything. one this afternoon said i was calling CQ at a certain time, i probably was, but i don't have a record of it and there was no qso logged near that time. perhaps i should interpret this as just a report of my signal and thank them for it.

another question: i don't want the SWL reports logged into my system, so i'm trying to figure out how to confirm yet NOT have them logged. help?

It is up to you how you handle those SWL reports without contact info. We have been seeing quite a few SWL stations over the last few months uploading reports via JT65, I think WSJT must log all spots it hears, and they upload those. So, they heard you, but don't have the contact details, and indeed it is very possible you were just calling CQ didn't even have a QSO.

So, up to you to confirm or reject. I would reject personally, if I can't tell for sure I was on the air at the time of the SWL report.

Unfortunately there is no way to prevent confirmed reports from an SWL as showing up in your archive.

tu for your response david... this morning i rx'd a nice SWL report re: a QSO with a DO station that had reported the parties in the qso and the reports tx/rx. in my mind, that is logically what should be there. a report without that information is just a shout out... hey, i heard you on the air... i appreciate it, but i don't understand it.

i may be able to delete them from the archive AFTER confirmation... i'll see.

edited to include: i found that i was able to delete the unwanted from my archive by locating the unwanted in my outbox and deleting that entry, i was able then to reject it from the archive. i would like to be able to confirm without having them in the archive, but i guess this is a workaround, for now.

thanks again...

Doing it that way has the same end result as rejecting it in the first place when you see it in your inbox, just takes a few more steps.

By deleting it from your outbox you have removed the confirmation you sent him, is that what you intended?

Is there something I'm missing here? I thought that the reason for allowing SWLs was to give them the opportunity to achieve some of the eAwards that hams are able to strive toward. Thereby boosting their interest in Ham Radio. If you reject an SWL report and then remove it from your Archive you have (and I think I'm right) in fact removed it from the SWL'ers InBox or Archive. Please correct me if I'm wrong and I hope I am.

Not quite.

Rejecting an eQSL does not remove a credit, because at that point no credit has been achieved. The only way to get a credit for an eQSL you send is for the other party to confirm it. Once you confirm an eQSL, an entry is placed in your outbox, and his inbox, and he then gets credit.

But! If you then delete that outbox entry it also deletes his inbox entry, and the credit.

That's why I asked the question: "By deleting it from your outbox you have removed the confirmation you sent him, is that what you intended?"
