eQSL must adopt a "fairness doctrine" ... if you want to download a QSL, you MUST acknowledge receipt of the card, i.e., you must QSL! Why? Too many trolls for "greenstamps"!!

I work a station,send eQSL..He downloads my qsl,does not confirm qsl.
I can see my call listed in his eDX100 list.I loose one country.
The other station is no longer an eQSL member.
NOT FAIR.

I really do not understand the problem..... when both stations have uploaded their log details for a particular QSO then the contact is automatically confirmed for both stations (when the details match). You do not need to do anything......

I have uploaded my entire log and upload new QSO's automatically right after I sing off. What is the use of being a member of eQSL and NOT uploading your QSO details...I cannot imagine there hams that silly. It is not a matter of fairness but of common sense.

Yes we need to do something about the users just archiving or mailing the qsl's they receive and not returning one. I say make everyone ag status and if you mail or archive it automaticlly sends a return qsl.

Hi Henk... you are thinking of LoTW where there is an automatic confirm (but no card). In eQSL I can download all of the QSLs sent to my call without reciprocating or even uploading my log books! I've begged by email for the matching QSLs in a few cases, only to be solicited for "green stamps." No more! I now download my cards first, check to make sure they are in my log, and then reply with a card. So, I eQSL ONLY after receiving a card, but always 100%. Note, "bogus" eQSLs are very possible!

My "fairness" plea is to couple the download of a QSL with the simultaneous generation and upload of a reciprocal QSL. A response I got from the eQSL staff about that was that membership dropped off when they tried that! Its all about the "green stamps."

I enjoy receiving confirmations on LoTW for DXCC, but I also enjoy the "instant" eQSL card for my brag wall, just like the LoTW and eQSLs that we've exchanged. Best of both worlds!

Hi Kai,
I understand where you are coming from but it all depends on ones appreciation of QSL's. For me not the card counts but the confirmation for DXCC - so basically I only value LotW confirmations and paper cards for new countries/bands.

My participation in eQSL is purely to support others that have a different view and appreciate my electronic cards. But to be honest... I could not care less about the "cards" I receive and never ever have yet downloaded one - only "viewed" some them and discovered that there are very, very few original cards and most of them look like all the others.

I really cannot understand how people could justify asking for money to just electronicaly confirm a QSO. I do a lot of replies for direct QSL's and nowadays announce on my web site that I expect one IRC or 2 US$ because I cannot afford the cost of stamps which nowadays are barely covered by 2$ (with the US$ being that weak and postage going up every year). So I think asking for green stamps for paper QSL's is OK but not for a computer entry.....

I rejected your "bogus" cards although I would love to work you on SHF :)

I'm still fairly new to the e-QSLing process.

I make every effort to confirm all QSOs with an E-QSL card. I don't care if the other party is in the system or not, I send it, never-the-less, with a personal note at the bottom. If I do not receive a reply, I am not emotionally crushed. I am, however, delighted when I find one in my "mail box". Especially one with a photo or graphic that the sender uploaded.

And, I will send a modest financial contribution to the site from time-to-time, but not to private individuals. No IRCs or green stamps. Anyway the depressed yankee dollar is not greatly valued these days. Unless it is to be spent on a shopping-spree in New York City.

I don't paper-chase or contest. Not interested in WAS, DXCC or other wallpaper. So that may explain my non-stressed attitude, expectations, and demands.

Hi Kai,

I follow very similar eQSL policy as you. I reply only to received cards. eQSL is nice, but has
bad design for eQSL confirmation. Therefore my preferred way is LoTW!

Akos, if everyone were so, nobody would receive eQSL! :)

I send immediately and automatically eQSL at my 73. It's fast and easy.

IMHO would be correct to remove the account to those who fail to respond after many months!

Being new to this EQSL Concept I was happy to find two EQSL Cards waiting for me when I signed onboard. I have replied to them and will be more than happy to Mail them paper ones, or a rock with my call on it or a belt buckle or anything else like a tube from one of my boat anchors. I like being a HAM and I like people. I think the 10 golden rules of being a good ham should be followed. I will always find the time to reply. If I have the time to tune the rig and throw my Callsign out into the ether ; then I also have the time to manage this aspect of the Hobby here.

I heartily agree with your comments Phil and put so eloquently

Certainly wish more people would adopt your doctrine in both eQsl and the paper type of confirmation.
Even though I think eQsl is a fantastic medium I still follow up all my contacts with a paper card unless, of course, asked not to.

Still have to say though I would like to see more members with their 'AG' certificate, it'd help my eQSL award applications (or lack thereof!) no end!

Regards,
Martyn.

Remember, no matter what happens they can't hang you for it!

I send out a eqsl each time I make a contact, I only receive about 25 percent in return. makes no difference to me, but I do wish everyone would do the same.
