I went to the yahoo group with the intention of joining, but when i saw there'd been no activity for 4 or 5 months .. i decided not to !
There seems to be a clear problem with eQSL, in that VERY LITTLE is seen of moderators, either on the forums or the yahoo group. How can eQSL continue to expand with so little input ?

Jeff, I tend to agree with you. I think eQSL would prosper if the Admins took more interest in the site. I know Dave (N5UP) is very busy and does his best. Every once in a while he will answer a question or two on the Yahoo group, but most issues are raised here. The Advisory Board should be more active here and on the group. If they are too busy, maybe Dave should get more help here. Join the Yahoo group anyway and see what happens. I did. 73 Andy - n1ork

Well, if I can help out i will. I've been running a yahoo group since 1999, it has around 1300 members and posts are made every day, with active moderators too.

The biggest problem with adding new eAwards is that staff are needed to approve the award applications. All of the award applications are reviewed by volunteers (unpaid, overworked :)
That said, we do have a new award in test mode at the moment, should be released in a few weeks. I won't go into details until the official announcement.
Maybe after that one is off the ground we can start talking about doing an eWAE award again.
If you are interesting in volunteering your time you could apply to be an Advisory Board member, link is on the left side of the home page. Specify that you are interested in helping out with the eAwards team. The more volunteers we have to do the work the more eAwards we can support.

Hi,
I offered my services using the link provided some 2 months ago and never even had a reply, I just took it that everyone was too busy to even say sorry you aren't required.
You can take this as my offer again if you wish.
Regards Stu

Hi Stu, Probably the reason you never received a reply is that Forums are for the discussion of issues, suggestions, questions and answers etc. All volunteers who provide various services to eQSL are members of the Advisory Board. So the first step is to apply for membership to the Advisory Board. There is a link in the left hand column of eQSL's main page under the heading, "Special Helpers" where you can do that. The application is a form that asks for some information abut yourself and how you think you might be of value to the board. In your case perhaps this is as an awards manager. Dave Morris reviews these applications from time to time and selects a few people to invite. Sometimes he may ask current members of the board if they have any objection to his choices but the final decision is his. In any case that's how to begin on the path to becoming an eQSL Volunteer.

Hi Rich That is the link I was referring to. I filled in the form with all the info required and I believe that I offered to help on most committees. So it might be that I didn't reach the criteria at this time.

Hi
I offered my services to the advisory board again a few days ago and am currently awaiting a reply.
If my application is accepted I would be willing to take on the responsibility of this award, with some help at the beginning of course. I would imagine that once a new award becomes active, clearing the initial back log would be a task in itself.
Who knows, there might even be the opportunity to add an eWAB award later. 73 de Stu M0TNG

Things seem to move mighty slow around here, This topic is several years old and multiple people have volunteered yet ???
Anyhow I'm curious what's the status of this award because to me it sounds like a great idea.

In an all-volunteer organization with one programmer, we have to focus on the low hanging fruit first. And those are awards that can be easily implemented with our current eAwards Engine. Doing the eJapan award required a significant modification to the engine, but now that we have that in place, we may be able to accommodate other awards that require more than a simple prefix count. Still, any version of WAE that we do here will require a completely new set of rules to match up with our way of doing things, will require an award manager, and a lot of testing. When you have a 300 million record database and 300,000 users in a system that operates internationally around the clock in every country in the world, you can't make even one mistake that might take the system down for hours. So, yes, we do operate a little slowly when it comes to adding new things. But we have been adding new awards and new endorsements, and we are discussing this one and several others right now in the Advisory Board.

Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong!
