I log from MixW, and it allows me to put comments in the log that are uploaded as part of the eQSL.

Does anyone know if N3FJP's ACLog will be modified to include the QSLMSG field in that software? I will also post this question on that Yahoo forum also. Thanks!

I think that if you contact the software designer and explain how useful the QSLMSG field is for adding personalised messages to outgoing eQSL cards then I am sure that they will consider adding it to their software packages in the future.
Do let us know what you find out

--- Original message by N1UK Mark Robinson on Sep 5, 2007 04:49 PM Yes, they do. In MixW, when you bring up the log record (double click a log entry from the search page, or click the icon that looks like a piece of paper from the main screen), there is a field called "Comments" that will appear in your eQSL. The "Notes" field is for personal notes on the QSO and will not appear on the eQSL VE3OIJ P. Darin Cowan

Here's what I got back from the N3FJP Yahoo forum:
Hi Andy, Thanks for your e-mail. Whatever you name any of the 4 Other fields will be used as the ADIF tag. There isn't a way to fill a field automatically though, other than copying and pasting of course. Please let me know if you have any other questions. 73, Scott N3FJP
And also:
I don't think that will work. It looks like eQSL only reads the following fields:
Call Date/Time Band Mode Country Signal Report Comment
So the change you are interested in will not show up in eQSL.
Dee, N8UZE
So it looks like the only way for us users of ACLog3.0 is to either do cut & paste, or if every one who uses ACLog and eQSL would send an email to Scott - N3FJP requestin a change to his software. Looks like mixW may be the way to go, but I hate to spend the extra $$$.

The above was really posted by me n1ork, not kb1jjx. Some how his cookie is stuck in my vista pc and once in a while it logs me into the forum as kb1jjx. Hope there's not too much confusion here.

Call Date/Time Band Mode Country Signal Report Comment To be precise I have shown that eQSL reads QSLMSG. I do not know if it reads the COMMENT field. It certainly doesn't put the COMMENT field in the QSL. So I doubt that eQSL reads the COMMENT field. It does read the QSLMSG field. Please note that are 3 comment type of fields used in the ADIF 2 spec and these are:- COMMENT NOTES QSLMSG N1UK Mark Robinson

Mark, I think you would be better at explaining this to Scott (N3FJP) who, with his XYL are the producers of this logging program. There is a Yahoo users group for N3FJP software users to which they reply very quickly. Would it be possible for you (or any other users of eQSL and ACLog) to join this group and explain to Scott just what the problem is and how it would benefit his software. Thanks in advance!!! 73

Hi Andy, I see that you have to be a registered user of the software to join the Yahoo group. Instead I have e-mailed Scott directly. This is what I said.......... Hi Scott, I have been involved in a thread regarding how to add comments to outgoing eQSL cards. At present the only way to add a comment to an outgoing eQSL card is to hand edit each card entry on the eQSL web site after the log (adif) files have been uploaded to the eQSL site. I have found that if a comment is added to the adif log file using the QSLMSG field (which is part of the ADIF 2 speciifcation) and if this adif file is then uploaded to the eQSL site this qslmsg will appear in the comment field of the outgoing qsl card generated by the eQSL web site. A few people have been looking for a way to be able to add the function of adding a personalised message to their outgoing eQSL cards without the slow process of hand editing the uploaded log file. This seems to be a great way way of doing this. I would recommend that you consider adding the capability to add a message in the QSLMSG field of the outputted ADIF file, to your software. Here is a link to the discussion about this subject on the eQSL forum http://www.eqsl.cc/Forums/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=388&start=173 Mark N1UK G3ZZM N1UK Mark Robinson

This was Scott's reply. I don't know the software but does it make sense to you? Hi Mark, Thanks for your e-mail. AC Log will use the user defined title of any of the four Other fields as the ADIF tag. Just name one of the Other fields QSLMSG and you will be all set. Please let me know if you have any other questions. 73, Scott N3FJP http://www.n3fjp.com/ N1UK Mark Robinson

Thanks for the info Mark. It took me about 2 hours of trial and error to figure out how to rearrange AClog's fields and which 'other' field to use so that the QSLMSG is accessable in the QSO input area and not just in the edit screen. Now I can fill in the QSLMSG while I'm logging my QSO and don't have to edit it later. It would have been nice if Scott gave an easy step by step on how to accomplish this. But oh well............
Thanks again Mark & 73
Andy

Sometimes the instruction mauals lead a lot to be desired but I am glad that you figured it out in the end. Maybe I should take a look at using AClog. Since I am using my own database I suppose that I could add a QSLMSG field fairly easily.
