This LOTW/eQSL idiocy must end. I've sent numerous emails to the ARRL over their foolishness.

That being said, if I have confirmed QSL's over at LOTW, will eQSL accept them? or do they have to be individually confirmed here too?

It really pisses me off that I have plenty of contacts for some awards, but can't get them on EITHER organization, because some people use eQSL only, and some use LOTW only. So I end up with some here and some there.

This is ridiculous!

I'm a newbie to eQSL and LoTW. Both a great concepts that could be even better if there were reciprocity between the two. It reminds me why the Democrats and Republicans can't agree on anything either. Sad state of affairs. In my earlier Ham years (dating back to the 60's), I always thought of the ARRL being a bit pompous.

I can understand the frustration. However the problem is with the ARRL not accepting eQSL confirmations. The ARRL wants to be the only game in town and it seems as if they are unwilling to work with any other organization. It is for this reason that I refuse to use LoTW.

There is a lot of stupid things concerned with ARRL and american ignorance gennerally. For example they were not recognising antiamerican independent countries like North Korea, but recognising every proamerican regime and dictatorship (including US dictatorship itself :)) )

So, sorry this is funny for me.... It was DXing alot, but american DXCC programme is just hipocrytic BS, like that whole country...

Yep, I'm one of the poeple who doesn't use LOTW. I'm even an ARRL member. However, it is my opinion that the "security" surrounding LOTW is ridiculous. It would be an immense PITA to manage for my many callsigns. To hear ARRL tell it, you'd think QSO confirmations were like nuclear secrets. This wouldn't be so bad if they used a certificate system like Entrust, where the software could handle multiple certificates easily, the software is well maintained, and updates to the software and certificates would be automatic. But it's not like Entrust at all. In any case, nothing in QSO confirmation justifies a complex certificate management system.

More to the point, when you apply for an award with LOTW QSO credits, they charge you for the privilege! That's right, for jumping through their hoops and making THEIR lives easier, they actually charge you money.

Since I have to spend money to get QSO credit, I do it by paper cards. I like collecting the postcards anyway. For me, it adds to the hobby.

I use EQSL for convenience mostly - great backup for my log, and the eQSL award program is fun.

I print ever eQSL I get! I have the paper cards. I have never tried to send them to LOTW, and I do not look for their awards either. Their DXCC would cost ME a minimum of $78. That is over 2 months of my ham radio budget. Yeah, I am over 65 and my SS raises never come.

I find that printing every eQSL uses a lot of link. I save the unique and interesting ones to an eQSL folder on my computer, then once in a while I copy them to a thumb drive or SD card which I plug into an electronic picture frame to show my eQSLs. Or I can use the PC file to run a slide show on my PC.
I also use LoTW, and I did get WAS and DXCC sooner than eQSL, but alas, no QSL pictures with LOTW.

Got a better one to save some money..Ever see one of those Digital Picture Frames? eBay Very cheap.
instead of printing, open up the card display, and then copy it into PAINT or your favorite picture program, and save it as a .jpg.

Load up your picture frame card, and now u have a scrolling images of all those QSLs..

I, too, love those electronic picture frames. I have one in my shack with all of the eQSLs I've ever received. It's packed... Looks great, and makes me remember contacts often, while sitting around doing a bit of rag chewing, and watching the display on the shelf. I just download them directly from eQSL and send them up to the picture frame.

Electronic picture frame, that is quite a novel idea! Thanks for the tip. I have one that I received for a Christmas gift that is collecting dust. I was looking for a way to show the interesting eQSL cards in the shack. I started printing them but they take up to much room and I didn't want to put them in a photo album. This solves my problem and keeps the gift from collecting dust. Thanks for the tip!

Tomasz,

I still like the USA, despite what you might think. I might not agree with everything, but I don't lump the entire country in the same pool as you. I live here, and still think it's one of the best countries on the planet to live. How many of the "anti-american" independent countries do we not recognize for DXCC, like North Korea, do we not recognize? Not many, and for a damned good reason. Are you suggesting that North Korea is some sparkling region of humanitarian hope that we're ignoring??

I seem to remember that North Korea doesn't issue amateur radio licenses. Probably a good reason to not have them listed as a DXCC country.

Hi Young Ladies & Old men,

the politic-talks and the indisputable and weel deserved critics to the LOTW 'overkilling' & exaggerated security policy , distracted us from the original Lee's question,

so I post it again clearly, just in order to get a quick reply:

Does "eQSL" accept LOTW credits and/or hopefully a scanned copy or the "real paper qsl cards" to implement the "AG" standings count for eAwards?

In positive case, what is the precise procedure?

Thanks, 73 Max
