Now that you have AG status I believe all cards, even those sent prior to getting AG now count toward awards.

Thanks, Dave. So a copy of the license isn't required for a special event call sign as long as the associated account has AG status already?

Canadian amateurs will be able to use a special prefix for 2017 and I am planning on creating a special eQSL for the event. My question is how would I add AG status for the new account so contacts count toward awards for stations that get into my log?

Thanks for the help,

Canada 150: Special Event Prefixes for Canada's Sesquicentennial

At the Dayton Hamvention, Radio Amateurs of Canada announced that it has secured permission for all Canadian Radio Amateurs to use special call sign prefixes to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada's Confederation.

National, regional and local events will take place throughout 2017 to celebrate the anniversary and Canadian Amateurs will let their counterparts around the world know of our celebration by using the following special prefixes:

1) Amateurs and clubs whose regular call signs start with VA will be able to use the CF prefix instead of VA (for example, VA3RAC will be authorized to use the CF3RAC call sign).

2) Amateurs and clubs whose regular call signs start with VE will be able to use the CG prefix instead of VE (e.g., VE4RAC will be authorized to use CG4RAC).

3) Amateurs and clubs whose regular call signs start with VO will be able to use the CH prefix instead of VO (e.g., VO1RAC will be authorized to use CH1RAC).

4) Amateurs and clubs whose regular call signs start with VY will be able to use the CI prefix instead of VY (e.g., VY2RAC will be authorized to use CI2RAC).

These special prefixes are optional and Amateurs can choose if and when to use the special prefix vs their normal prefix at any time during the year.

Stay tuned to the RAC website (http://wp.rac.ca) for additional
information.

At first I was undecided but the more I think about it, the more I say they can keep their QSL. If I have to pay someone in order to receive confirmation of a contact then I don't think I want it. I believe this goes against the spirit of amateur radio. Yes there are expenses involved but I don't believe anyone asked them to pack up and go just so they could make the contact. If they couldn't afford their trip on their own dime or with the donations that they have already received then why did they go in the first place?

What's next? Charging the people we help during an ARES activation?

Support - English speaking » Style 4 QSO details text color Apr 20, 2016 01:40 AM (Total replies: 2)

Ok, thanks David. I was thinking that I could modify the color and use the previous position that was assigned to the text.

Thank you for the clarification.

I have been going round and round trying to change the qso details from white to black text. But anything I enter for the font color reverts to white.

I select the QSO details, select alignment, select text font, text size and finally select black as the text color. I then select save and exit and when the card is shown it is white again.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a minor bug in the eQSL designer?

Digital » JT65 & E-QSL Apr 4, 2016 09:08 PM (Total replies: 8)

I use JT65-HF HB9HQX edition. If you go to configure, then select "pause and open configuration window", select the internet tab.

From there you can set up the software to automatically upload to eQSL, HRDLog.net and Clublog. Just enter your username and password for each account and put a tick in the boxes marked activate upload. When you are finished, select save settings and close.

Now, any time you work a station and click on the log QSO button, it will automatically send the contact to the services that you setup above.

Getting more eQSLs » Upload QSO'S from HRD Jan 24, 2016 03:27 AM (Total replies: 3)

Depending on your version:

In the logbook screen, select configure and then select eQSL.cc

Enter your username, nickname and password that you use to login to eQSL. If you would like HRD to automatically upload your contacts to eQSL as you enter them, put a check in the box marked "upload every time as entry is addded to the logbook".

You should then be good to go.

You may be able to do it using hrdlog.net. I know that they will send you an email with the graphic of the new eQSL card attached as they come in. But I am not sure they will do it for past contacts.

Out of curiosity, why would you not want to accept eQSL? Using eQSL for a special event would only cost a donation to eQSL and you would be able to use a custom card for your event. No postage, no printing costs, immediate delivery as soon as you upload your logs, the list goes on.

SWLs » Awards Jul 28, 2015 03:36 PM (Total replies: 10)

Hi, Sebastian.

I have donated in the past but have since let the donation expire. I currently use eQSL more or less as a courtesy to other hams that use it and chase the awards offered here. My rate of return is much lower here for the exact same contacts than on another service so I tend to concentrate on earning their awards.

You bring up an interesting point about paying the same amount as everyone else. I haven't looked, but is it clear that SWL members have access to limited award prior to donation?

Perhaps another way to look at it is since this is a confirmation process designed for amateur radio operators, it's amazing that it offers any awards to short wave listeners.

What are the other amateur radio electronic conformation systems that allow shortwave listener participation?

Getting more eQSLs » Non AG member eQSL. What's the point? Mar 16, 2015 10:00 PM (Total replies: 5)

I understand what you are saying, Raymond. I receive a lot of non AG eQSL. Sure, some people may enjoy getting a card, but for those of us that do enjoy chasing awards it may be more of a bother. We get a card from a location that we need, but since it doesn't count for anything unless that person obtains AG status it can be a bit frustrating.

It has actually gotten to the point where I am thinking about only confirming contacts from AG members and refusing cards from non AG members. Either that or just confirming via LoTW only.

Other suggestions » Probably been discussed previously, but..... Mar 6, 2015 11:01 PM (Total replies: 5)

What if eQSL were to do the double blind like LoTW and not submit a qsl card to either party unless both logs match? Would that satisfy the ARRL and then allow eQSL to count for their awards?

Getting more eQSLs » Non AG member eQSL. What's the point? Jan 13, 2015 02:47 AM (Total replies: 5)

What is the point of receiving an eQSL card from a non AG member? The card doesn't count for anything, so what is the point of having an option for allowing non confirmed members access to eQSL?

While it is nice to have an eQSL card in the inbox, since I am not able to use the card for contact confirmation I just don't quite see the reason for allowing it.

Am I missing something here?

Contesting » How to add W1AW for WAS? Dec 26, 2014 11:33 PM (Total replies: 2)

The Centennial stations only confirm through Logbook Of The World. So you will need to setup an account there if you are wanting confirmations for those stations.

Getting more eQSLs » Increasing return rate on eQSL Aug 28, 2014 05:29 PM (Total replies: 11)

I am curious, is there a way to increase the return ratio on eQSL?

I have been a supporter of eQSL for a few years now and have uploaded all of my logs to the service. However my confirmation rate is only 25%. I have been resisting joining LoTW due to having to jump through hoops since I didn't live in the States. However as an experiment I went ahead and signed up. I then uploaded the same log file that I use for eQSL to LoTW and to my surprise, I had a 48% confirmation rate.

Looking at the awards on eQSL I have 24 countries confirmed for the eDX100 award. On LoTW I have 41 countries confirmed. For eWAS I have 23 states confirmed and on LoTW I have 41 states confirmed.

I am sure that there are other people with results that would be higher on eQSL than on LoTW. But this got me thinking that there has to be a way to increase the hit ratio on eQSL.

I am curious, have any of you had better luck with your confirmation rate? Or is it pretty much the luck of the draw and what will be is what will be?

What did they use to claim that you earned that award? Was it LoTW or did someone submit their cards and they mistakenly gave you credit for their contacts?

Getting more eQSLs » eQSL HF Net Jul 30, 2014 01:18 AM (Total replies: 12)

With relatively few people reading the forums, my original idea of a weekly net may not be the best way to make contacts on HF. However, there may be another option available to us.

I was listening on D-STAR reflector REF030C. They were coordinating HF DSTAR contacts via the reflector, then moving over to a specific frequency that was agreed upon. What if we did something similar? We could use an IRC chat room where we can coordinate HF contacts on the spot and exchange eQSL without having to wait for a net.

I would suggest we use Freenode as a server and the channel name of #eqsl . If you have an IRC program such as mIRC or XChat (available for most platforms), just setup your software to connect to Freenode and the channel name is #eqsl. If you don't have an IRC program installed you can also login via the web at http://webchat.freenode.net/

Just login with your call sign and you should be able to join the room.

eAward Suggestions » eContinents May 17, 2014 09:49 PM (Total replies: 1)

Calling it eContinents might open this particular award up to all sorts of bad jokes but I like the idea for an award. I would probably call it eWAC (worked all continents) or the like.
