Hello all, first will appologize if this is in the wrong place.

I have started to noticed in the past few years is that it seems more and more hams who are considered DX seem to only be willing to use eQSL, and they even go so far as to say so on their QRZ details page as to weather or not they use LOTW. I have ALOT of DX that I have worked but cannot afford to QSL direct and am not a member of the ARRL either so I can not use the bureau either, so alot of it sits at the LOTW unconfirmed due to the lack of uploads.
I have read how some ppl like to get their wall paper, so do I once in awhile. But if a DX station can take the time to upload to eQSL its not that hard to do it to LOTW also. To those who have uploaded to eQSL and there are thousands, uploading to eQSL and not to LOTW has made me not even send out reply's to people using eQSL as I relay on LOTW. Remember its a simple two way lane here, you want something and so do I. People who only feel like using eQSL and not uploading to LOTW also wont be getting cards from me either. I look at my old logs which are all entered into LOTW to see if you have confirmed the contact yet and if ur not in LOTW then the eQSL card doesn't get answered. Basically I just wasted my time cause your info is not in the LOTW and I never get credit for it at LOTW so why give you eQSL credit?? So if ya want a card on eQSL ya might wanna take the time to get it into the LOTW site also. Beside it might get eQSL somewhere with the ARRL if more people used it also..

OK am done with rant now as its now almost 3 am sat night in middle of cq ww 160 contest so talk to ya later.

Chris

Hi Chris,
You said you noticed more hams using eQSL lately and not LOTW. I would hope that it is true, but it seems to me to be just the opposite. I got my DXCC much sooner than my eDX100 and I got my WAS but not my eWAS. I'm not sure about DXspeditions because I'm not one of the SteppIR Big Guns. I use both LOTW and eQSL, but I think LOTW is a PITA. You have to re do your 'certificate' every 3 years and if you happen to lose a hard drive then you fight another battle. However, I feel an QSL is a gesture of good will to my fellow hams, so I continue to use both systems. If I get an LOTW confirmation or an eQSL, i'm just glad.
If one wants to participate in the eQSL eAwards, you have to be AG and maintain a bronze, silver or gold membership level, so I assume you don't plan to participate. But thanks for getting AG so that others can use your eQSLs for eAwards. Why not just upload your logs to both systems and see what happens.
73 and good luck!

I for one only use eQSL. I was able to get AG status with a minimum of fuss. I sent a copy of my license via email and in a day or so it was done. With LOTW I would have to send them my license, a copy of a government issue ID, a DNA sample, medical history and a criminal records check. Well, the last 3 aren't really required but it feels as if the ARRL is giving me nuclear missile launch codes instead of the ability to confirm a contact that no one other than myself and the other station care about.

I have a lot of callsigns for various reasons. On eQSL, it's easy to upload to any of them.

Getting LotW accounts for them would exceed my patience. These are QSO records, not nuclear secrets, so I can't really be bothered going through their security process... And I even do IT security for a living.

I have one LotW account that I got due to social pressure. For the rest, paper or eQSL.

No way will I post my licence to LoTW. I like the eQSL verification process. When will the ARRL realize which century we are living in?
