FT5JA QSL I paid 6 Euro,
I am a member of GDSF, EUDXF, DARC, LRMD.
GDXF and EUDXF - already supported the expedition of 2000 USD and $ 500
Now pay again? I am very annoyed I guess I will have to terminate the use of your system. It's a shame ...

At least you have a card to see.

I paid via Paypal and still have no eQSL to print.

Poor system.

Hi,

I got my EQSL's, but the system is weird...
I had to first click on the yellow icon, to pay my 5 $ via Paypal, OK
then when I came back to my inbox, same icons, greyed this time.

I clicked on each of these greyed icons, each time it prompted me
for à 1$ donation, but without anyPaypal screen this time.

At the end , I had all my EQSL's, for 5 $, not 5$ + 5 times 1$
as I feared.
I understand now : it's a two phases process, 1st you feed a global Dxpedition account, your yellow icons turn grey, then you click on each of the grey icons to transfer a 1$ payment to the FT4JA dxpedition per EQSL.

Yes, it's a payment rather than a donation. You pay, or else you don't get any EQSL, any credit

Otherwise, great system, LOTW confirmation for the official thing,
EQSL for the paper thing with a payment, I had previously made a 20$ donation but never mind...

Also, may I suggest to allow another image size in this case, medium or high definition
I think it's a great idea to give money to the DXpedition rather than to
the Post Office (though for this expedition, TAAF are involved and may have designed a special stamp, like for Tromelin....?...)

ADD. : I just received this from Flo F5CWU :

Bonjour,

en effet, en collaboration avec les TAAF, une enveloppe spéciale a été éditée. Elle sera complétée par le tampon de l’expédition.
Celle-ci sera utilisée pour tous les envois direct (via OQRS)

I agree with Rimas. I make a donation every year to eQSL. I have also paid for a paper card from FT4JA via OQRS/PayPal. Now I have to pay for an eQSL from FT4JA before it can be used for eAwards.

A "donation", by definition, is something that is voluntary. When it becomes compulsory, it is a PAYMENT ... not a donation.

I, too, am reconsidering my use of the eQSL service. I will not pay for individual eQSL confirmations.

I'm not sure how eQSL has anything to do with any particular user saying "pay me money or I won't confirm you."

Similarly, just because you've donated to maintain the eQSL service, that has no bearing on the individual actions of any eQSL user.

I donate to the postal service every time I send a paper card, but that doesn't obligate the person at the other end to respond.

Is eQSL forcing this payment?

You do not donate to the postal service, Darin. You PAY the postal service for delivering your card. There is a difference.

eQSL does not enforce a subscription; it is voluntary. I choose to contribute, but I don't have to.

On the other hand, FT4JA is enforcing payment for his cards if anyone wants to receive them.

P.S. Your reply to this thread was almost as slow as the QSL Bureau!

Believe me, with the postal service in Canada, it's much more like a donation for the service of a half-motivated volunteer.

Yeah, I only check here every few months. I probably should look more :)

I don't know how desperate I'd have to be to succumb to "you must pay me or I won't confirm your contact"... I tend to get pretty spiteful when presented with an ultimatum.

you should report this user to the folks that run eQSL. I'm sure this is against some policy.

This is a voluntary mechanism to help financially support DXpeditions the same way they do it with other QSLing services. During the first few months, they request a donation to support the costs of the expedition by charging for each QSL. After the initial period is over, all QSLs are free.

So you can either support the DXpedition, or you can wait a little longer for your free QSL. It's that simple. The donation to the DXpedition has nothing to do with your eQSL membership payments.

Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong!
