The system is collecting IOTA data within the users' profile. It is my understanding that an eIsland award is being considered at this time, but it needs more support/requests from users to move it up toward the top of the Things to Do list.

Thanks for that - maybe when IOTA is closer on the horizon people will think more about it - and maybe add some requests here. I hope so :)
e-islands could be quite a nice one with multi-award capabilities..

IOTA is on the way... Do people think that we should have an awards two island areas: - One for the IOTA contest (get IOTA to sponsor it ;) - A general IOTA islands list awards scheme (50, 150, 300, etc?)
I'm not sure the previous response is in the right place?

Voted in favor of eIslands... IOTA does not cover United States Islands such as at http://usislands.org...Maybe something a little more comprehensive... By the way, we are opening Pelican Island TX050 on Aug 25 2007 as W5P around 14.260, 7.260 and other modes/freqs...around 1400 UTC to 2400 UTC... W5P Tri-County ARC North Texas

I'm all for an IOTA Award in fact I'm generally on the side of eqsl Awards anyway, if we're collecting cards may as well put them to good use ..... might even reach the Eqsl 'Hall of Fame' one day I think however, perhaps initially, we could commence with a 'general IOTA' award as already suggested with add-ons for each additional 50 confirmed. There will be a call for others such as US Islands, Croatia Islands, Oceania Islands and such-like but this would take a great deal of time & no small effort on the part of the Admin staff to construct. Basic IOTA Award voted for by my goodself and let's see what the future holds! Martyn.
Remember, no matter what happens they can't hang you for it!

It's less than a couple of months to the IOTA contest, is there enough interest shown to warrent an award?
for an award scheme I'd suggest we have: eIslands-weekend award for the IOTA-weekend contest - top island totals eIslands 50 (IOTA and any other list) (50 is a nice taster to get people interested) eIslands 100 (as above lists) eIslands 300 (as above lists) eMax - an running award in name only given to the person with most at any time.

We now have over ten thousand members who have IOTA reference numbers in their profiles. There might be some potential for an award. One of the things that an eAward manager would have to do for this award is to make sure that people are actually on an island and didn't just enter an IOTA Ref into their profile for grins. If someone is willing to step forward and become the award manager for this award, then we might be able to get it going before year end.
Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong!

Now there's an offer! - if only I were retired.
How about asking for a team of say 10 volunteers - co-ordinated in a forum in this system?

Just wondering, since it's two years since Dave's broad acceptance of the idea, whether anything is hapenning. We've just missed this years IOTA weekend, so we have 50 weeks to prepare for the next one :)
Equally, I like Dave G0CER's idea of a team of Award Managers... I might even be able to volunteer that way!

Just observing that two years on from my last comment, nothing seems to have happened.
It would have been great to launch this ahead of this weekend's IOTA contest... may be we could have a commitment to launch ahead of next year's?
