I love eQSL!! It is a way to confirm qso without waiting 3 years, or spending excessive amounts of money to assure a return!! I never asked or wanted green stamps for return of cards and I won't send green stamps to recieve one, just don't seem right to me. Back to the message, I have at least eight European Russia contacts that I have sent eQSLs without one return!! Not the end of the world, but interesting!!

I must admit to being in full agreement with you Jason, on both the fact I think that eQSL is just superb and I totally agree with your thoughts on paper cards and their resulting postage costs!

Mind you I can't say that I have the same problem with operators from European Russia, I have a fairly good return from them and they're no worse than some other countries I can mention!

Regards,
Martyn.

Remember, no matter what happens they can't hang you for it!

Something to think about, most Russians do not have internet access from home. Also most of the plans there are charged by the minute, and a lot of them end up going to internet cafes and such. Being in the west, and having a broadband always on, unlimited for XX dollars a month account may make you forget that.

A lot the Russians have computers, but most don't have a unlimited access account. Broadband costs around 50-60 US dollars a month, which is a bit tough on the average 150-300 dollar salary. (Outside Moscow)

Hi all first post here, and loving eQSL.. I suppose this questions has been asked many many times but why don't users of eQSL return cards??

I've sent out a few and had a very poor return, and these are from people who are registered!!

I even had a station tell me he does not use eqsl yet he is a registed user...!!! (got one in the end from him though)

I've recently started to use PSK31 and one of the first things they send to your screen "I QSL 100% etc..." but they don't despite me sending them an eQSL straight away...

Oh well that's my moan over....

Heh, I say QSL 100%. All logs go up to EQSL immediately from my station. Paper cards go out to people I contact for the first time.

I like eQSL just fine, LOTW too. Frankly don't see them as competition. Only takes a couple of moments to upload to both. My experiences are pretty poor overall. I have 303 contacts in my log (271 since March of 2007). I have received 61 (20.1%, 6 of 27 for 22.2% for earlier contacts) confirmations from eQSL and 38 (14.0%, doesn't include those before 3/07) confirmations from LOTW. It amazes me how few folks avail themselves of these fine services. As for European Russia, I have made no contacts there (yet). The returns seem to be stronger (32.5%) from the USA than from everywhere else. Therefore I would expect to have to make up to 10 contacts before receiving my first eQSL.

Hi, i am a FAN of eQSL. I like this system. I send 100 % Paper-QSL for all my contacts since 1980. All my Contacts are in the eQSL-Databank, about 60.000 QSOs hihi....I am a registerd member by eQSL since AUG-2007. Now I send no paper-qsls more, only eQSL. All cards to received in the IN-Box will be saved on the disk. I made about 2500 QSO's this year and i have received 226 confirmations from eQSL. I worked 76 european russia stations and 16 eQSLs are received. Maybe I think it will be better in the future. Sorri for my english...

I show 963 eQSLs out, and 506 in, for 52.5% overall, although the best percentage of responses is in the digital modes. CW seems to have the least percentage returns, followed closely by SSB.

I can't really complain about the return rate.

I still send paper cards by the bureau though.
